China-UK Innovation Cooperation Roundtable Conference held in London
On September 21, 2017, the "China-UK Innovation Cooperation Roundtable Conference", hosted by the Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce (CIPA) and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), was held in London. Liu Dianxun, Director-General of CIPA; Jin Xu, Minister-Counselor at the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Chinese Embassy in the UK and Matthew Rous, Chief Executive of CBBC attended and addressed the conference. Among nearly 50 attendees were representatives from Chinese local governments and commerce departments including the Department of Commerce of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the People's Government of Shibei District, Qingdao, representatives from British government institutions, as well as Chinese and British entrepreneurs.
In his address, Liu introduced China-UK two-way investment, China's latest policies and measures for foreign investment utilization and outward investment, as well as CIPA's overall idea and specific measures of promoting China-UK investment cooperation, especially CIPA's efforts in building cross-border industrial investment promotion platforms. As the Chinese secretariat of the Joint Work Group on China-UK Local Cooperation established under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Local Trade and Investment Cooperation and Development Cooperation, CIPA has maintained close relations and cooperation with the British secretariat-UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), CBBC and other British institutions, and practically promoted China-UK investment cooperation in various ways. With demands as orientation, CIPA will further optimize and renovate its work mode, and gradually build a great investment promotion platform focusing on industries, supported by areas and linking the inside to the outside.
